The Union is growing

February 13, 2014

It has been a whirlwind of a week spending my nights packing up orders with my oldest daughter Brinley. The Sock Union membership is at 25 members and growing. The blog Fashionably Geek featured Sock Union on their site. Looking forward to continue growing the Sock Union, I already have a list of sock designs waiting to make their way onto some tube socks. I had a request to show shoe sizes that match sock sizes. These are approximate but should give you an idea of what size sock you need for your feet:

Thanks everyone for their support!

Sock Union open for business!

February 09, 2014

It feels good to see a crazy idea finally take off. For me, Sock Union has been my crazy idea for the last year and a half. Those who know me can attest (and often poke fun) of my love for striped socks. Sock Union is my way of sharing that love with others.

The Sock Union opens with two sock designs, the Chicagoan and the Commodore. Living in the city of Chicago for the past 15 years, I have grown to love the history and culture of this unique city. The Chicagoan is a tribute to the city by featuring the flag of Chicago proudly wrapped around your shin.

I remember being so stoked to get our families first computer as a hand me down from a neighbor, the mighty Commodore 64. The Commodore harkens back to thoughts of the 80's and the dawn of personal computing. I am a sucker for nostalgia, and this sock is the start of many retro designs for the Sock Union.

I have had alot of inspiration to start a side project like the Sock Union (Don't Talk to Robots is my main gig). Here is a list of people that have spurred me on either directly or indirectly (mostly indirectly...):

I hope to continue to grow Sock Union from these humble beginnings by creating more sock designs along with other creative striped sock merchandise. Your support is appreciated! If you ever have a question, concern or want to share your love for striped socks, shoot me an email at doug@sockunion.com.

Welcome to the Union!
